Jennifer contacted Kathleen about being partners.
Jennifer asked if Kathleen wanted to be partners.
Kathleen agreed. Posted partnership on BB discussion
forum and posted link on BB Wiki Partnerships page.
February 23 & 26
Kathleen sent a query to Jennifer via BB mail.
No response.
Sent invitation to "Collaborwiki" to Jennifer on Feb 24.
March 2
Kathleen sent a query to Jennifer via Yahoo.com.
Kathleen verified that Jennifer was still on board as she had not yet heard from her since initially forming the partnership. Jennifer responded she was finishing up other projects and would be ready to concentrate starting March 3.
Will begin collaboration March 3.
March 6
Kathleen sent email via Yahoo.com.
Kathleen shared with Jennifer her concerns about timeliness and communication to the collaborative process. Kathleen asked what grade level and subject areas Jennifer would like to consider for the WebQuest. Also, Kathleen shared the link for the Wallwisher Storyboard for planning.
Kathleen created Wallwisher storyboard at http://www.wallwisher.com/wall/kmjs5233
March 6
Jennifer contacted Kathleen via Google Docs and chatting via Google Docs
Jennifer shared a Google Doc to brainstorm for the WebQuest. Kathleen suggested Greco-Roman mythology as she has some partially developed pathfinders and lesson plans on this subject that could be turned into something quite nice. Discussed timings for phone call.
We decided to develop a WebQuest on Greco-Roman mythology of some sort. Must determine TEKS for Greco-Roman mythology. Will attempt to contact via Skype or Phone on Wednesday, March 7, 9:30pm for Jennifer in Dallas, TX, which is Thursday, March 8, 5:30am for Kathleen.

Skype Conversation
Spoke at length this morning via Skype. Decided to go Ancient Greece as above. Jen has already gathered TEKS Standards. Kathleen will tie to AASL Standards. We created a log in for both of us to access zunal.com. Jen will take care of the Title, Intro, and Task. Kathleen will start processes and resources. Both will edit as project gets nearer to completion. Kathleen will check on Pathfinder requirements. We will do the storyboarding on Cacoo. Kathleen and Jen will both work on exemplars and resources. We will add the link to this Google Doc to the wiki in two places: communications and brainstorming.
Subject for webquest: Ancient Greece. Kathleen will tie to AASL Standards. Jen will begin with her parts of the Webquest and Kathleen will continue to add to it today. Both will edit as project gets nearer to completion. Kathleen will check on Pathfinder requirements. Begin storyboarding on Cacoo. Kathleen and Jen will both work on exemplars and resources. We will add the link to this Google Doc to the wiki in two places: communications and brainstorming.

Jen added to the Cacoo website, basic tasks and an outline. Of the WebQuest, Jennifer said,I started writing the tasks but I stopped because I wanted to assign specific tasks/questions for each theme but I think I need a couple of resources listed for each item to make sure what I am asking them to research can be found?

Kathleen responded,

I added a bunch of resources. I looked at Dr. M.'s example, and she guided her students to resources by giving them a link to her Wiki Resources Page. So, I set up the resources (I am missing a few, but there are enough for you to get started). I spent 3 hours on this tonight. I also linked it from the WebQuest in the "Process" Section, I believe. http://collaborwiki.wikispaces.com/A.3.1+WebQuest+Resources

If you want to put specific resources for each task right in the resources section that's fine. I didn't put them on the WebQuest because we still aren't sure of the tasks. Sort of a chicken/egg thing. If you find more, by all means add them.

I updated the Cacoo site a bit. This is the first time I've used it, so you'll have to be patient with me. I'm a little unsure of the purpose of having the Storyboard. Are we supposed to be using it for brainstorming? If we're using it for brainstorming, then why do we also have the Google Doc and the Wikispace Communications Page? It's like we're posting the same thing in 3 different spots in 3 different ways, which is a big waste of time.
Jennifer Responded:
I beleive the Storyboard is just a guide to help with the layout and tasks. It is listed on the assignments page but not on the Rubric. I love the idea of the stations being sports! Ties everthing in nicely. Don't be afraid of offending me if you change anything I worked on. I'm flexible. I usually just put it in and then go back and rework as the project develops and refine. The citation for the graphics should come at the end. Some of them require them to be on the same page that the picture is displayed not just in a works cited. We can make them the last resouce listed on each page.
Both partners will continue to update Cacoo and work on the various tasks assigned to each on the WebQuest itself.

Notified Jen that I completed the pre-assessment survey, the note-taking checklist, and the rubric for the final product. I added the link to the pre-assessment survey and the rubric to the WebQuest. I shared a link to the Note-taking checklist via Google docs because we need to add to it as tasks get solidified. Events #1, #7, and #10 are completed.Jennifer Responded: The project is looking good. We are making good progress. I will work on the processes for the other 7 events. Should have a couple done today and the rest tomorrow.

Good Morning Kathleen, I am am writing this at 1 am my time. I image you are just waking up while I am getting ready for bed. I completed 3 of the processes and Day One is complete. Take a look at them and let me know if you think I left something out. I'll finish up the other 3 processes for Day Two tomorrow. I also added a couple of new recourses to the pathfinder on the Wiki. Take Care, Jen

Hey, Good Morning, I took a look at them. The only thing you might want to consider as you are creating them is how to get the kids to do something a little more hands on or visual to mix it up a bit. Also, it might be a good idea to add the URLs right in the instructions for the event, just in case they need that scaffolding. And remind them to use the note-taking checklist to record their findings. Have fun today. I am planning to go back to the rubric and add something more specific about letter writing. Also, I will add short descriptions of the URLs on the resource page. Have fun ! -Kathleen

I also added a bunch of stuff to the teacher page. I am working on a new rubric. But I am tired tonight. So will get on it in the morning. Event #9 is not filled out yet. I wasn't sure if you missed it by accident or were planning to come back to it. I love your ideas for the stations, btw. I think the WebQuest is really interesting and varied. It's nice.

From: McKim@mail.twu.edu > To: jennifershaw@msn.com > Subject: FW: RE: > Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2012 20:22:43 +0000 > > Oh my gosh. I am so tired, I emailed this to myself. GEEZ! Okay. I did the stuff below, added the letter writing rubric. Now, I'm freaked out about MLA Citations. I have to update the note-taking form and rubric to include MLA citations. How do you feel about that? You know what? I'm going to ask her about that.

I do think our webquest is very good. I have been searching through other webquests posted on the site and they are not as detailed as ours. I'm glad you like the the stations. I was trying to make them all fit into the theme and be a little creative so that the students can imagine the scene? I keep re-writing them adding a little here and there. I tried to find a video clip of the Greek Phalanx in action for the warrior section but I just kept coming up with R rated movie clips. UGH! Not appropriate for 14 & 15 year olds. I'll finish #9 City/States tonight. Do you think we captured the Higher-order thinking and especially effective scaffolding? I don't think we should add the resources onto the process page? Isn't that what the Wiki Pathfinder is for? The Pathfinder is a graded item on the Rubric. This is a note from the Assignment page: Note: The other WebQuests you will review on Zunal.com do not conform to ALL of the rubric criteria, specifically citing images, providing information about evaluation on the Task page, and locating and annotating your Process page resources on a pbworks page. Please review the tutorial and follow the rubric for an exemplary final product
The teachers page is great!! I also like the link to the letter generator. Good Idea. We need citations for the Images we used and they need to be in MLA format on the page with the image. Not a link like I added at the bottom. I'll go back and fix these on the pages. Referencing her example Webquest we should put the datasheet/assignment checklist and the Rubric on the Task, Evaluation, and Conclusion pages. Are you thinking we need citations for all resources on the pathfinder? That would freak me out. I am going to double check her example. Jen

Do you think we captured theHigher-order thinking and especially effective scaffolding?
I think we scaffold very well in the instructions via the reminders to post answers on the Note-Taking Sheet. Higher-order thinking is addressed in the “events” when we have them compare notes and select the BEST two examples (analysis and evaluation). It’s also addressed when they have to synthesize their information and write the letter for a specific audience. We’re also engaging them in higher order thinking through the pre-assessment and the post-assessment reflections.

I don't think we should add the resources onto the process page? Isn't that what the Wiki Pathfinder is for? The Pathfinder is a graded item on the Rubric. This is a note from the Assignment page:

I agree with you. I replaced the links in each event with directions which referred them to the WebQuest Resource page.

We need citations for the Images we used and they need to be in MLA format on the page with the image. Not a link like I added at the bottom. I'll go back and fix these on the pages.
I am checking with her on this via BB Discussion Board. I found conflicting information.
Are you sure the citation for the Discus Thrower on the title page is correct? It doesn’t look quite right to me.

And, is there any way you can find a good picture to put on the Conclusion page? I just can’t find anything really great.

Referencing her example Webquest we should put the datasheet/assignment checklist and the Rubric on the Task, Evaluation, and Conclusion pages.
DONE

Are you thinking we need citations for all resources on the pathfinder? That would freak me out. I am going to double check her example.
I don’t think we need to. Her page certainly just links the sites, and she has an annotation for each resource. I think our resource page is pretty good. Theoretically, you could add ad infinitum.

I am going to fill out part of the rubric on the GOOGLE DOC. One of us is supposed to turn in the rubric, and the other one will submit the URL for the Collaborative Wiki. If you submit the Rubric, I will submit the URL for the Wiki. For submitting the rubric, the file name is Shaw_McKim_A.3.1_Rubric.

Jen to inform Kathleen when she is finished with Event #9 and gives her final approval. Jen to submit rubric and Kathleen will submit wiki URL.

We're having a discussion about how to best attribute the image we are using on the Title Page. Jennifer shared this: Check out this link for the Discus Thrower Graphic with instructions on how to cite.

Kathleen did not understand the directions since they instructed people to look for a broken link, so she traced links backwards to come up with this citation.

She's submitted that to Jenn to see if that will work.
Jenn will give the final say for this citation, then we will be ready to submit.

Partners fail to do one of these.
Partners fail to do two of these.
Partners fail to do three of these.
